I have been so extremely busy! I have to show you what I have been working on. Every Friday I join in on watching Laura Dennison teach a class on Ustream and this past Friday she taught us her design of a z-fold album. It was awesome! So, I stopped working on the book I had designed as I liked this one so much more. I will just make that book for something else with a different cover on it.
So, I created the Z-fold album for my friends who just got married based on Laura's instructions that you can find on her blog. Her blog link is listed on the right hand column of this blog. She is awesome, you need to check her out! Anyway, I used some of the papers from DCWV paper stack named Luxury and then the majority came from the DCWV paper stack named Latte. The embellishment on the front is from Prima's new collection and the D-ring's are Tim Holtz Ideaology collection. OH, I also used the new page corners from Tim Holtz. Hope you like! Let me know...
So, shoot me! I didn't get a thing accomplished last night. I spent my evening on Noell Hyman's class on Ustream! You all should have been there! She is doing the most amazing altered book. I am so into this altered book thing. What about you? I haven't started one yet, but I just got my book I want to use. I love it, it is old and the edge of the pages are really ratty looking from being handled and read. You know how the older pages in an old book look? I love that look, so hoping to keep the edges of the pages original and have my paper starting in some from the edge. I really have no idea what I am going to do with this book. I am thinking about making an altered book about me? I thought that would be cool for my kids to learn a little about me when I'm old and lost my mind (more than I have now). Have you done any? I would love your ideas and input! I know there is someone out there reading this blog! OH well, even if there isn't, it helps me clear my thoughts and be more productive.
No classes tonight, so I am going to work on my ....not sure. Whatever hits me when I get in there. I learned last night on papperclipping's round table that it is ok to scrap in whatever order I want to. I don't have to do things chronologically nor do I have to do anything in any particular order. I can do whatever I want, when I want.
Has that ever been your problem? I can't be alone in this. I was always so overwhelmed at the thought of going back and scrapping all my kids since they were babies. I always felt like I needed to start at the beginning. The several pages that I have actually finished were done just because I had an idea and didn't want to lose it. See, I swear I have ADHD and was never diagnosed.
I am so like my father in that respect. I have a hard time finishing a project all at one sitting. It sometimes takes me several weeks of looking at something to decide if I'm finished with it or not.
The last swap I was in, I created a vintage paint can for a friend that I have made through this online world. She is really into Tim Holtz and I was so proud of this can, but just felt it wasn't finished. However, I couldn't place what I didn't like about it. Kept thinking it was that it needed more color. But then I was afraid to mess it up by adding too much color to it. I'm trying to find a picture of it so I can show you what I mean. I even showed the can to Tim Holtz and he said it was "cool" but he didn't offer if he felt it needed something else or not. Guess that is because it is to each individuals perception and he didn't want to alter mine. Anyway, I could never pinpoint it and just had to send it as is. She loved it and so did everyone else, but I still feel it was missing something. As soon as I find it, I will attach it. Let me know what you think about it.
OK, I'll be honest. I didn't do a darn thing last night. The night before, I had stayed up to watch The Proposal. Good movie by the way! But I ordered it on demand at 11pm at night...so I was up until like 1am. That is very late for me. Usually, when I send my kids to bed at 8:30...I go right after them.
Well, I was exhausted last night and had a headache. So, after dinner, I went to bed. Sorry, no work on the book or anything last night.
However, I will say, I got some presents in the mail last night.
I watch Noell Hyman at www.paperclipping.com every Tuesday night and she recommended getting the titletopia by Creative Memories. Well, I ordered it on Ebay and it came last night! I'm so excited! Besides the ustream video class every Tuesday night, she also has a roundtable podcast that she does every week. Ya'll should check it out! She is an amazing teacher. She teaches from the standpoint of a designer and using design principles. It is awesome!
I am also in another swap on www.cricut.com for happy mail every month. I received mine last night!!! I received the Martha button bunch (my first Martha punch) and the most beautiful red Daisy Doodles. Funny story about those. I had picked them out for me to give to someone else and I was so tempted to keep them because they were so pretty and give the girl something else. But, I didn't and now I have my own!!!!
Then lastly, I also follow Laura on http://followingthepapertrail.blogspot.com/ and never miss one of her classes on ustream now. Anyway, I had ordered the Paris purse kit from her etsy site to do with them this past week on Friday night. I got it last night. I am going to be working on that tonight. I promise I will share pictures with you! Laura is so down to earth and lovely person. Ya'll should check her ustream classes out too. The classes themselves don't cost a dime. It only costs you if you wish to purchase the kits to work along with her. However, she basically tells you everything you need and you can do it yourself if you wish. BUT, her kits are amazing!
Anyway, enough rambling for now.... I will check in tonight with some updated photos.
I am currently in a swap on Cricut.com and this is a box I have made to include in my box that I send to my partner. I used Tim Holtz paper (I think Retro Grunge, not sure), curio knobs, foundations, grungeboard, tags, swivel clasps, game spinners and chipped sapphire to age the box. The flowers are found on Rhonna Farrer's website, go to the May 3rd Post with the exception of the plumbers tape flower. You can find that tutorial here: You Tube Video. So I hope yuo can get some inspiration from this.
